Protruding bullet heads indicating dark matter pull

چکیده

A clump moving through the intracluster medium of a galaxy cluster can drive bow shock trailed by bullet-like core. In some cases, such as in prototypical Bullet cluster, X-rays show gas bullet with protruding head and pronounced shoulders. We point out that these features, while difficult to explain without dark matter (DM), naturally arise slowed-down is gravitationally pulled forward toward its unhindered DM counterpart. X-ray imaging thus provides unique, robust probe offset, collisionless DM, even gravitational lensing or other auxiliary data. Numerical simulations toy model suggest effect common major mergers, often associated small bullet-head radius curvature, may lead distinct morphologies, consistent observations.

Singlet scalar dark matter in noncommutative space

In this paper, we examine the singlet scalar dark matter annihilation to becoming the Standard Model particles in the non-commutative space. In the recent decades, many candidates of dark matter have been offered,  but our information about  the nature of dark matter is still limited. There are such particle candidates as  scalar matetr, fermion, boson, gauge boson, etc.; however, they have nei...

DARK MATTER LINE EMISSION CONSTRAINTS FROM NuSTAR OBSERVATIONS OF THE BULLET CLUSTER

Some dark matter candidates, e.g., sterile neutrinos, provide observable signatures in the form of mono-energetic line emission. We present the first search for dark matter line emission in the 3 80 keV – range in a pointed observation of the Bullet Cluster with NuSTAR. We do not detect any significant line emission and instead we derive upper limits (95% CL) on the flux, and interpret these co...

Dark matter and dark radiation

Lotty Ackerman, Matthew R. Buckley, Sean M. Carroll, and Marc Kamionkowski California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California 91125, USA (Received 16 December 2008; published 23 January 2009) We explore the feasibility and astrophysical consequences of a new long-range Uð1Þ gauge field (‘‘dark electromagnetism’’) that couples only to dark matter, not to the standard model. The dark matter...

Dark Matter and Dark Energy

I briefly review our current understanding of dark matter and dark energy. The first part of this paper focusses on issues pertaining to dark matter including observational evidence for its existence, current constraints and the ‘abundance of substructure’ and ‘cuspy core’ issues which arise in CDM. I also briefly describe MOND. The second part of this review focusses on dark energy. In this pa...
